Dear Mr. Markham,
I read, with appreciation, the full – page article about you in last Saturday’s “Journal” and the column in yesterday’s “Herald Tribune.” It is good to know, old friend, that you are still so active, so alive, so in tune with this glorious spring weather. I was grieved to hear of Daniel Murphy’s death, your address at his funeral reminded me of the day when you and I spoke at Gaylord Wilshire’s funeral. Please remember me warmly to Mrs. Markham. I should surely be at the meeting on Sunday if it were not for the fact that I am billed to speak that evening before the Bronx Free Fellowship.
Sincerely and Affectionately,
Leonard D. Abbott
