Dear Mr Sinclair:
I am heartily in favor of protesting against the destruction by the Germans of the monuments and works of art which are the patrimony of humanity. I shall be happy to join a committee of protest that has any real weight to it. If at least a half of the persons named in your list join the protest, I shall be happy to add my name.
Wishing you success in this worthy effort,
Edwin Markham.
Mr. Upton Sinclair
