Dear Mr Markham:
I have your secty's note, with enclosures. I am much indebted to you for your kindness. I cannot tell for some time what I shall use of the material-- except that it will include the Man with the Hoe, and a passage from the Desire of Nations. I will return all the material after copying what I may need. I will of course see that your copyrights are safeguarded, and I will send you proofs in due course.
Sincerely,
U Sinclair
[Hand-written at bottom of page:]
Busy Man!
Don't take the time to copy what you want to use. Take out what you need and send the remainder.
A word on the wing

Am glad you have your eye on "The Desire of Nations".--M
