Dear Mr. Markham,
I thank you very heartily for your kind word and invitation. To come for two or three days would be, I fear, impossible, as I am now working regular office hours. It would be a great pleasure, however, to pay you a briefer visit.
How would it be if I came out a week from next Saturday (September 24), and spent that evening and the following morning with you? In the afternoon of Sunday (the 25th) I must be in Montclair, and this would necessitate my leaving Lake Hopatcong that day.
Trusting that this plan may be convenient, and anticipating the pleasure of a good talk with you, I am
Sincerely Yours,
Leonard D. Abbott
P.S. I am interested in your series of articles for the “Homiletic Review.” Mr. Wheeler seemed to be delighted with the first article.
