Dear Mr. Debs,--Your very welcome letter has this moment come to hand. What you say of Mr. Ehrmann gives me an interest in him at once. If I find that I can do so conscientiously, and can arrange with his publishers, I shall be happy to write an introduction to his book. I should have to lay very pressing work aside to do this, but I should do it cheerfully if only to serve you and our good friend Reynolds. I am truly glad that your secretary slipped into your letter this fine picture of yourself. In the face I see the awful resolution of the ocean rocks. [previous crossed out]
Faithfully Yours,
Edwin Markham
[Handwritten]
I see in the face a quick warm humanity and the long resolution of the ocean rocks.
