My Dear Mr. Markham:
I have just written Dr. Herron telling him of your consent to speak - and perhaps read something from your writings – on the evening of the 22nd. You have no doubt received notice of the meeting thro Dr. Tolman of the committee. I took the liberty, for the sake of the symmetry of the program, of assigning you ethical end of it on the very general subject – “Brotherhood” – and of printing on our program a few lines from your strong poem of that title. A book of your poems was given us as a Xmas present, and Mrs. Meserole and I have enjoyed reading them very much. We received a letter from Mayor Jones to-day in which he again expressed the pleasure he felt in the hour which you and Mrs. Markham spent with us on Friday evening. With kindest regards to you and Mrs. Markham from Mrs. Meserole and myself, believe me,
Very sincerely yours,
Darwin J. Meserole
