Grinnell, Ia., Dec. 26, 1899.
Dear Comrade:-
I am sending you by today’s mail the autograph copy of my “Between Caesar and Jesus,” which I tried so hard to give you while you were here. I am so glad you have relented, and will let me send it. I sincerely hope that you will not be forced to go on home from Chicago without stopping over to the Conference; I want you to be present so very much. It would be an inspiration to all of us to have you there, and I think you night meet some people you would be glad to know. The reply from the editor of the Post does not hurt anybody’s feelings, as you know. I thank you very much for the trouble you have taken in the matter.
Faithfully yours,
George D. Herron
