March 1, 1918.
Edwin Markham, Esq.,
92 Waters Avenue,
West New Brighton, S.I. N.Y.
My dear Master:
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Very many thanks for the charming poem received this morning. I should not dream of shortening it. On the contrary, I should arrange the whole paper to suit it. Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art, though I am sorry you are hung in lone splendor across the night of Staten Island instead of being here to lunch as you led me to hope would be the case this week. Love is the law, love under will.
Yours ever,
Aleister Crowley
