N.Y. City Nov. 14-16
Mrs. Edwin Markham
Westerleigh Park
N.Y. City

Dear Mrs. Markham:
Your letter brought more pleasure than you can know, for to me Edwin Markham is about the greatest living poet in the world.—The Poet of Humanity – the Voice of Intellect raised in a storm cry which swept a World with the G____ (?) of an Inspired Soul crying out in the Wilderness—in the Might(?) of Human Life against the iniquity of the Rich; and in behalf of the down-trodden Poor.
A voice crying out against the desecration of Human Life—a long, loud, wail which the winds of space carried till it reached the ears of a listening Universe.
How I wish you could come to my meeting but since you cannot – we will get together as per your plans.
The lecture is at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon (instead of in the forenoon as I wrote you). The meeting is at 114 Pierre-Pont Street Brooklyn at the Civitas Club.
Now how can I get with you and Mr. Markham immediately after that meeting which will last till 4:15-?
You say you or he (or both of you) will call for me Wednesday “evening” – Do you mean after dinner, or after lunch?
Is the Carnegie Hall Humanitarian Cult meeting at night, or in the afternoon?
I will be in N. Y. City November 21st, that is the third Tuesday in November. I leave on November 22nd for Harrisburg, PA to address the State Suffrage Convention(?) of Pennsylvania. But I can leave from your home as well as here, so I will come to stay over night with you.
I notice Rabindranath Tagore the poet of East India speaks at Carnegie Hall November 21st at night. Could we not all have an early meal and go over to see him and hear him afterwards? I am most anxious to meet him. I heard him in Denver, Colo. some three weeks ago and he is like a dis-embodied Soul. He is a wonderful spiritual power.
Call me Plaza 5707 as soon as you get this so I may understand how to make a meeting with you and Mr. Markham tomorrow.
Hurriedly
Kate Barnard
